A tranquil have in lively Sayulita

Casa Paz is aptly named! We stayed for 2 months in Lower Paz, and felt truly relaxed from the time we arrived there until departure: we felt so at home that we felt reluctant to be moving on. Casa Paz is in a great spot on Gringo Hill: it's tucked into a quiet neighborhood, just close enough to the beach and downtown to be convenient, and far enough to be out of the downtown bustle and noise. Of course, this is Mexico so there are always roosters crowing but, compared to almost all other Sayulita locations we know of, they were not many and they didn't all day long - basically a non-issue. There's a neighbourhood burro that brays from time to time, but again, it wasn't at all bothersome - in fact, it's comical sound always brought a smile to our faces. Although there were people staying upstairs, we enjoyed all the privacy we wanted: we never really saw much of our neighbors unless we sought each other out for a visit (which we did from time to time). The living space was well laid out and we felt it was very roomy for 2 people. My favourite space was the patio - surrounded by the gorgeous garden, and shaded from the hot sun, it was the perfect place for me to read, relax, have a coffee, listen to birds, catch up on email - whatever I felt like doing. I also enjoyed time on the rooftop - with a view of surrounding gardens, trees and the ocean, it's the perfect spot for relaxing or doing yoga. The house itself was clean, the kitchen well equipped for cooking, and we were able to sprawl out very comfortably. A nice bonus was that we could do laundry on site and I didn't have to drag laundry all into town and back, and have to pay for it to be laundered. Last but certainly not least, Casa Paz caretakers Aide and Mateo were fabulous! They are wonderful people - friendly, warm, considerate, caring and extremely helpful: whenever we had a question or needed something, they were very quick to respond, and I truly enjoyed the pleasure of their company when they were working on the property. Our stay wouldn't have been the same without Aide and Mateo. Although Patty and Larry were away whilst we were in Casa Paz, we appreciated the fact that Patty touched bases with us periodically to ensure that all was going smoothly - a nice personal touch. So, thank you Patty and Larry for sharing your lovely Sayulita sanctuary with us. All in all, we loved our stay, and give a 100% recommendation to Casa Paz!

"MAGIQUE"

“MAGIQUE” 5 of 5 stars Reviewed for a stay in May 2014 Nous sommes restées deux semaines, et tout était parfait.

The perfect oasis

Casa Paz- the perfect oasis Left on 03/27/2014 for a stay in March 2014 We arrived in Sayulita by bus from PVR. Even with our backpacks on, Casa Paz is an easy 5 minute walk up a hill from the plaza, along very charming streets. It was the perfect location. Perched on top of Gringo hill, the views are wonderful. And it is far enough away that you don't hear the noise of Sayulita, but still close enough to hear the ocean at night! We stayed in the studio on the top floor. This clean studio had everything we could possibly need . Fully stocked kitchen, blender, coffee pot, fresh water jugs- we were set. Also, the bathroom has a large shower and is fully stocked with towels/toilet paper. While the inside was charming and comfortable, we spent most of our time on the terrace just off the kitchen. With plenty of sunshine and shade, we lounged around most mornings taking in the views, doing yoga, reading etc. It was so relaxing. I would highly recommend this place to a couple or even a family (there is also a pull out couch). It has the perfect amount of indoor/outdoor living space. Also, I highly recommend a massage from the neighbor Doris.

A perfect little gem!

A perfect little gem! Left on 04/01/2014 for a stay in February 2014 We stayed in the lower level of Casa Paz for five weeks this winter, and it was absolutely delightful. The house is tucked away in a quiet corner on the top of Gringo Hill. The neighbourhood is quiet, with the exception of chickens in the morning and the sound of the propane truck looking for customers, and the neighbouring donkey, all of which added to the ambience and was truly charming. The house is well-equipped with all of the basics, and the shaded patio is roomy and always a cool place to unwind after a day at the beach. Larry and Patty are attentive owners who truly care about the quality of your stay. They went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed to be happy and comfortable, The caretakers Matteo and aide were friendly and helpful, and didn't mind our kids following them around while they worked around the property and house. We can't wait to go back, and the only reason I'm hesitant to write this glowing review is the worry that someone might beat us to it!

We spent 21 wonderful days on the one bedroom, first floor of Casa Paz. The environment and views were terrific for the entire stay. The living area, kitchen area, patio area, and bathrooms were all very nice. The owners have retained Mateo as property gardener, and he does a great job; the garden is beautiful. His wife, Aide, is the housekeeper and does a very good job as well, along with her good cooking. Casa Paz is provided with Wi-Fi so we had numerous contacts with the outside world using Skype and the Internet, without any problem. Sayulita is a very interesting and friendly town, and so is the surrounding environment. We witnessed the Mexican Revolution Day parade downtown. We also experienced the Farmer's Market exhibits and activity at the downtown square. Golf carts provide a great way to explore the local area, so you may not wish to drive a car. The bus ride from and to Puerto Vallarta is also fun and interesting to take. We had numerous meals in Sayulita restaurants -- all very good. Check out the website www.donpedros.com for beautiful beach views from that large restaurant. All in all we were very comfortable at Casa Paz and it provided us with a perfect location in Sayulita.

Relaxing Stay

I went down to Mexico for a short vacation on the spur of the moment. I could not have been happier with the location and accommodations. It is an easy bus ride from PV airport to Sayulita. The house (Casa Paz) is just up the hill from the village. The panoramic view of the coast is well worth the trip. The house has all the accommodations you need including a fully equipped kitchen, large shower, and comfortable bed. Perfect size with a big outside patio to entertain in. You will spend all your time outside enjoying the views and fabulous weather. I really enjoyed walking down to the beach and village; you are literally there in about 5 minutes. It is a very safe village with friendly people. We caught a parade while I was there; lots of fun and color. Excellent restaurants and night life. If you stay in for dinner, I highly recommend a walk down the hill for the desert stands. My favorite was the freshly made churros. They are made while you watch, and absolutely addictive. Nothing like the dried out ones we find in the states. Sayulita was a ten star find, and Casa Paz was the perfect perch on the hill for a relaxing stay in Sayulita.

Peaceful garden house with ocean view

Left on 07/10/2013 for a stay in January 2013 I lived in the Lower paz for five months during this spring and enjoyed my stay very much. Lower Paz is nicely shaded by the trees of the Casa Paz garden, yet you can still have an ocean view. The house is hidden in the garden and it feels safe with neighbors on both sides (no visual contact to terrace so privacy is secured). The house itself is cute with a good character. Lower Paz living room has big windows on two sides of the room so it's full of day light (never gets direct sun light so the room stays cool also during the day). All the windows can be covered with curtains if you wish to sleep on the living room sofabed. The downtown plaza can get pretty noisy during high season nights and whether or not it will disturb your sleep, it really depends on the direction your house is facing. In Casa Paz you can sleep your nights in peace, since the music from the plaza doesn't reach Casa Paz at all. Since the house is located right on top of the Gringo Hill, I recommend renting a golf cart if you're traveling with children. Otherwise, I really think walking is the way to go. The hike takes only five minutes and it will get you in shape in no time. Customer service at Casa Paz was excellent. The owners of the house are a very lovely and warmhearted Californian couple who will help you in anything you need.
